Religion and Its Impact on Society A ccording to Karl Marx "Religion is the Opium of M asses". Impact of religion on Indian society has been multi-modal and multi-dimensional. Religion is defined as a specific set of fundamental beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by number of person or sects. According to Article 25 of Indian constitution: everyone has the right to choose the belief and religious practices which he want to follow and it is also well enshrine in our constitution in too. Impact of religion on society:- (A) Negative impact of religion:- 1. Groupism : Religion divides people and in turn, may hamper development of India. 2 . Conflicts : Communal conflicts became a common phenomenon as seen in Cow vigilantism, conflicts on religious books and symbols etc. 3. Dogmatism : Every religion has a set of beliefs which may be superstitious quite often. Such ideas block the development of society and the progress of individuals. E.g.: —In some communitie
