Tuesdays with Morrie: My views

Image
2nd Book of the year is " Tuesdays with Morrie-  by  Mitch Albom ":  "A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops ." This quote by  Henry Adams  aptly captures the profound influence Morrie had over his students with his smile and his way of thinking. This is a book that has been recommended by so many people, and after reading it, I can say that it is definitely worth the hype .  It's a story of a student Mitch and his Professor Morrie, who has been suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) , a brutal, unforgiving illness of the neurological system which has no cure , and the doctors have already told him that he won't last much longer . Mitch was once one of the brightest students of Morrie and always saw him as a fatherly figure, learning a lot about philosophy, psychology, and human behavior from him. After graduating, he met Morrie, gave him a gift, and promised to stay in touch. Mitch actually wanted to be a musici...

Unraveling Espionage: The Spy and the Traitor Review

Image
If you are someone who enjoys spy thrillers, particularly in the espionage genre, then " The Spy and the Traitor " by  Ben Macintyre  is definitely for you. I can't remember the last time I finished a  400-plus-page  book in just three days—that's how difficult it was to put down. It felt like watching a movie, with incredible suspense and a gripping narrative. It's a  real-life story  about  Oleg Gordievsky , a KGB spy who grew up in communist Soviet Russia. From a family of KGB operatives, Gordievsky's perspective changed after witnessing Soviet's false propagandas all his life and specially after Soviet interventions in Hungary (1956) and Czechoslovakia (1968), which made him loathed the system he grew up in. Passionate about western culture and literature, he became a double agent for British Intelligence (MI6). The story also provides fascinating insights into the personal life of spies. Gordievsky's relationship with his first wife was particular...

FRENCH REVOLUTION (PART II) So in this article I will tell you what happened when France moved from Absolute Monarchy to Constitutional Monarchy.  READ PART I BEFORE IT. In August 1789 the National Assembly declared Rights of Men and Rights of Citizen. It is considered as one of the most important document in the world. It was a statement of intent for constitution and based on the idea of enlightenment. There are total 17 articles in this document. The concept of Liberty, Equality and Fraternity were enshrined in this document. One of the famous article in this says “ Men are born free and remain free and equal in rights” (means it doesn’t matter wherever you are born, you will have equal rights and you will be equally free). The basic drawback of this declaration was that it didn’t give any rights to women and slaves; even they weren’t considered as citizens. Women were considered as passive citizen hence didn’t have right to vote. In October 1789 th...
